"Let Teen-Agers Try Adulthood"

In Botstein’s  Essay “Let Teen-Agers Try Adulthood” he feels that high school is pointless and that they should be grouped together in class. He feels that they should cut out middle school and students should go striaght from elementry to high school. I personally feel that middle school was designed for a reason. I feel that as Children going in to different stages in our life we need to be grouped with students going thru the same thing. I would never want my daughter in the first grade to be in the same building as male students that are in the 8th grade. The grade system is fine just the way it is. I actually think that high school should be extended  I feel that a lot of students still have not reached maturity at the age of 17 and 18. I don’t feel like at the age of 16 you are ready to go to college. College is a very stressful ordeal and to have all that stress at such a young age could really damage a person. I don’t think that students that’s are 16 should be grouped with students that are in there 20’s. At the age of 16 I don’t think would have been mentally ready to see all the things I saw at 18.  I feel that taking it slow is the best thing to do. Let your mind marenate on the things you have been taught, and then go  from there. Don’t rush into to growing up.

  1. Hi Atlana,

Guess what? You have successfully analyzed :) The analysis begins here,

"I feel that as Children going in to different stages in our life we need to be grouped with students going thru the same thing. I would never want my daughter in the first grade to be in the same building as male students that are in the 8th grade. The grade system is fine just the way it is. I actually think that high school should be extended."

To extend this post further, I would encourage you to consider the following questions:

    1) Based on your personal experiences, why should we not remove MS?
    2) Based on your personal experiences, how were you different at 16 and at 18?
