The first story that pops’s into my mind when thinking about education is the first time a realized why education was so important. I remember one day a long time ago, I really needed help on my homework I had been given in class that day. I remember going to my Grandmother and asking her about it. She told me that "The things you kids learn in school, is nothing like what we use to learn". She told me that she couldn’t help me with it. I thought to myself like why she wouldn’t help me. I left out of the room and back to the dining room table. I sat there, collected my thoughts, I then went back in the room with my grandmother. When I walked through the door she was crying, I couldn’t understand why. She began to tell me that she had dropped out of school, not telling me why but later to finding out it was because of the birth of my grandparent’s first child. In could tell that she cried because she longed to have an education, but the course of life had changed. That was the day my grandmother told me the best ways to make her proud, was to get an education and be one of the first to Graduate high school. I always look back at this memory as a motivation to succeed. This has helped me to move further in my life, not only am I one of the first to graduate preceding my older sister, but I’m the first to go to a university.

Why does Mr. Auld tell Ms. Auld that she can't continue her lessons with Douglass?
Mr. Auld told his wife Ms. Auld not to teach Douglass because A smart slave is an unrully slave. He knew that if Douglass became educated he would surly see that slavery was wrong. He would also be able to teach other slave how to read and write and do for there self. Mr. Auld quotes "if you teach that nigger how to read, there would be no keeping him". He will quickliy learn wrong from right and want to be treated fairly by other's.

Before this course, what did you anticipate?
Before this course I anticipated the worse. Seeing that I took this course last year and didn’t do so good I was skeptical about taking it again. Last year when I first got into English 100 I thought I was going to like it, one because I was good at writing, and two because I liked to read, especially from my peers. So I had high hopes, and many expectations from the class. I think I ran into my first problem when I found out that I didn’t really get the hang of my teachers "teaching skills" is how she referred to them. She stated the first day of class that she had been known to be a difficult teacher, a Hard Ass to say the least. She assured us that it was certainly a myth, and that she was one of the nicest teachers where to have in our college years. She quickly proved them right by locking the door as soon as 1 o'clock hit, accepting no late work, no absentee’s rather sick or family problems. And her "Charming" sarcasm was the tip of the iceberg that sunk my ship to success in English 100. So needless to say I was not a happy camper know that I had to take it over, and I defiantly was not looking forward to it. But I swallowed my pride and did what I had to do in the class I’m in to get to where I need to be. So I hoping for a solid B in this class.

- What is the thesis for your paper?
The Thesis for my paper getting over people that doubt you.
- List the main points you make in your paper.
The main points I make in my paper are, over coming doubter's. Making it even though nobody thinks you will.
- What was the most helpful advice you received from your peer evaluation?
To use more personal details and not just generals.
- What was the most helpful information you received in class for your paper?
Ms. Chastains paper helped me start my paper off and gave me a good example of what she was looking for in Task III
- How many drafts of this paper do you think you wrote and how/when did you write them? For example, did you compose at the keyboard, did you write lots of notes to yourself, did you pre-write or outline, did you write in small chunks of time or sit down and produce an entire draft at one sitting?
I like to type on the key board, save it, then come back and work on it alittle more. I like to do my paper in my bed but since i dont have a laptop right now im stuck with typing it in the labs around campus.
- What would you do differently with this paper to make it more effectively, or what did you try to do that you just don’t think you got a good handle on?
I would definatly make it longer give more attention to the paper.
- What are most pleased with about this paper?
I like the fact that I put alot of details in the paper, and i also ineluded situations from my life of education.
