What stories come to mind when you think about your education?

The first story that pops’s into my mind when thinking about education is the first time a realized why education was so important. I remember one day a long time ago, I really needed help on my homework I had been given in class that day. I remember going to my Grandmother and asking her about it. She told me that "The things you kids learn in school, is nothing like what we use to learn". She told me that she couldn’t help me with it. I thought to myself like why she wouldn’t help me. I left out of the room and back to the dining room table. I sat there, collected my thoughts, I then went back in the room with my grandmother. When I walked through the door she was crying, I couldn’t understand why. She began to tell me that she had dropped out of school, not telling me why but later to finding out it was because of the birth of my grandparent’s first child. In could tell that she cried because she longed to have an education, but the course of life had changed. That was the day my grandmother told me the best ways to make her proud, was to get an education and be one of the first to Graduate high school. I always look back at this memory as a motivation to succeed. This has helped me to move further in my life, not only am I one of the first to graduate preceding my older sister, but I’m the first to go to a university.

  1. Hi Atlana,

I think that you have some potential here. This is certainly a good characteristic. I think that you are but this is something that should come from you . The stories that you share are very well, but I don't know if you want to or have something else to work on. Let's tighten this focus into your love of books.
